Well IMO its cheaper to get it in cartons.

I buy cans and I end up with some sort of back ache getting it back home, then end up taking pills for the pain and so adds to the cost. (Either that or I feel lousy the next day and so am less productive).

Also it means I can open a carton, use what I need and put it back in the fridge. You can't do that with a can (or you shouldn't at least as its not good once you open the tin to leave it like that due to the metal affecting the product once in contact with the air).

And its just so much easier to store cartons over tins! I get mine from Sainsburys and they are 33p a carton, they have the cans for 31p. I'm happy to pay the additional 2p and reduce slightly in size, I also prefer the chunky bits and find passata too liquidized but thats just my preference.
  • Totally agree with the fans of LIDL passata, makes a nice thick sauce. Finding Tinned toms more watery, and more expensive every day!!!

You can recycle them in most parts of the UK, details of tetrapak recycling facilities in your area can be found here.
