Going to an interview and chatting on here, are completely incomparable.

You would know that if you had ever attended an interview!

Internet forum = relaxed, anonymous environment with plenty of time to respond and a choice as to what you wish to respond to. When responses are given, they are of no consequence to the poster in the 'real world'.

Job interview = formal environment with an expectation of near immediate answers. The interviewee has the added pressure of knowing that their answers could completely change their life.

Methinks it is you that need to get real.
  • What a laugh. Don't bother going OP. to be painfully truthful, there are so many people looking for work that there will probably be far better suited candidates than someone who is 21 so lacks experience, is signed off sick for "stress" so will probably be taking plenty of sick days and to top it off seems like a bit of a drama queen, needing attention about whether you might not be fit to attend an interview because a doctor got his commission for signing you off for an illness that you probably had to convince them that you suffer from.

Also how do you find out that you only have one kidney? What difference would that make to you?
  • Wow, just wow.

There are people on here that are desperate for work, and some of you are advising that the OP doesn't even go for an interview? There are people on here that would kill for that interview.

What harm can it do by going OP? Just go, you might get the job! You wont if you dont, thats for sure.

Exactly, having this kind of interaction on here is just as bad as an interview. I went to an interview last week, the guy was very nice and it went very well. Id say coming on here at times is worse than an interview!

For my tuppenth worth OP I suggest you go. If you let this stress thing go on, it will spiral believe me and could end up with depression. Get yourself dolled up and grab life by the horns. Get out there, try for this job - you are only 21, dont waste your life 'on the sick' as you will turn around and you will be 40.

There are people who go to work in agony every day, rather than sign off sick, because it motivates them more to keep going rather than just give up. Don't let this stress thing rule your life and become bigger than anything you want to do.

Don't dwell on the fact you have one kidney, so do many others, and live completely 100% normal lives.

Maybe at the moment you have too much time on your hands to dwell on things that bother you? and getting a job could actually HELP to put things into perspective, if you see what I mean, fill your time. The devil makes work for idle minds as well as hands.

A sick note prevents you from going to an interview? Thats a new one on me. It doesn't even prevent you from working.

The sick note may not prevent you from working in itself, but many employers have insurance policies which mean you are not covered if you are signed off. My employer will not let anyone work who has a sick note for this reason - if something were to happen then the employer would be liable and they don't want that to happen.

I'm not sure how this applies to interviews though....

It is a job INTERVIEW therefore, by definition, you are not an employee at that point. Their public liability will cover you if you trip over the carpet.

In any cast the prospective employer has no means of knowing that the OP is signed off unless s/he tells them.
  • Hi Claire

I think claire like me is worried about the implications of being in receipt of ESA and maybe being offered a job and what happens.

I am the same, was signed off sick monday and applied for ESA and have my note from the docter saying i should refrain from working, now i have an interview tomorrow for a job i applied for a couple of weeks ago.

I am definately going to go for the interview, firstly its good experience and it could be the answer to my problems, firstly, i will be doing something and have a routine to my days, secondly, the money is always good, etc etc, but im actually (hopefully) being paid sick pay but i am assuming and i dont know as ive never signed of sick before in my life and im 52 now, that i can just phone the dhss or see my docter and say i would prefer to take that job? Is it that easy, i dunno but sure is one way to find out. Claire, love, just take one day at a time and stop stressing out over nothing life is too short, if you go for the interview and dont get it there is nothing to worry about, and if you do, the choice of what to do is up to you.

NOW EVERYONE STOP GIVING HER A HARD TIME.

    Take Care Di
