Job Interview and Sick Note

I don't believe being signed off sick is saying you are not permitted to work - It is saying you are poorly enough you may stay home if you prefer. If you think that not having a job has contributed to your stress and if you were offered the job you would be able to do it then going to the interview seems sensible. If you were offered the job and would not feel up to going to work there seems no point wasting the interviewer's time. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I think if you want a job you should go to the interview. It'll be fine, just relax and be a good interviewee - don't worry about all your other stuff going on.0

What has your GP signed you off sick from if you're not working? In fact, I didn't think you got signed off any more, isn't it the fit note system now? [Disclaimer - I haven't been signed off since 1986 and I've never seen a fit note so I'm not speaking from any personal experience].0

thats correct we just have the fit note now. part of it includes refraining from work completely, how long for, and the reasons why. so you can still be signed off on a fit note, it is just less likely to happen these days.0

The OP is presumably claiming JSA and would be asked to apply for ESA if they are signed off they are not actively looking for work.
OP - go for the interview if you feel upto it, it'll be good experience if nothing else
Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

People always seem to forget that a fit (i.e. sick) note is ADVICE, it is not an order or a legal restriction.
The old sick note (and maybe the new "fit" one) actually said "FOR SOCIAL SECURITY PURPOSES ONLY". Technically all it did was provide confirmation that a doctor had ADVISED you to refrain from work and to allow you to claim any benefits you were entitled to IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO SO.0 -
A sick note prevents you from going to an interview? Thats a new one on me. It doesn't even prevent you from working.
As others have said, if it is the job you currently have that is causing the stress the old adage "a change is as good as a rest" applies. Also as surviving on the dole is stressful for a lot of people as well you may find a job puts you in a better frame of mind.0 -
No offence OP, but your saying that your are off with stress and you dont know if you should go for an interview etc.. but you are perfectly capable of telling the whole world on here about your problems and medical conditions?
Go to the interview and stop messing about on here.0 -
