I have a limited time offer of 6.9% for the life of the balance on my barclaycard platinum. I want to transfer £1100 from nationwide credit to barclaycard on this deal. I currently only have £750 outstanding on my nationwide credit, so if I went £350 in credit on nationwide card could I be penalized? I have googled this and doesnt seem as though anyone else has ever asked this?

the question comes up regularly
in general CC won't accept a 'positive' balance, the payment is likely to be bounced back
however there seems to be a tolerance of small positive balances and obviously accidental ones like refunds
so don't try it
in any case why ever do you want to add to your debt?0 -
cheap loan i guess, though hardly worth it for 350If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...:think:0

It's usually a violation of T&Cs to put a credit card into credit, and you may find the transaction gets reversed.
That said, I have put several different cards into credit on numerous occasions over the years, and never had a problem - the balances have just stood, and I've gradually worked down them in normal spending.0 -
oh ok cheers for the advice.
I will just try to spend the money within the next couple of days, and hope the 6.9% offer is still there by end of next week.
Xmas presents etc we had a credit crunch xmas last year so this year im treating the family to a bit of a spending spree, it will be on the card till end of april when I will get my bonus at work which should cover off the debt.0 -
Most c/card companies T&C's state that cards should not be put into credit, one or two will charge you for prolonged periods of the card in credit.
However the reality is most will not refuse a payment which puts the card into credit unless it's by an unusually high amount.0
