I want to use my laptop for daily use as my desktop is old and very slow but I prefer the monitor on my desktop. I can connect the laptop to my monitor with no problem, however; it displays in the landscape wide format rather than the monitor's full 4:3 type size. Is there any way to change this.

I'm fairly sure this is dependent on what the graphics chipset is capable of, and possibly depends on which graphics driver is installed for that hardware, and probably which version of Windows you have.
I've tried in the past with XP SP3 and I could not change the aspect ratio on the external monitor output - but also could not work out which of the above was the problem.0 -
