Energy company reps

Why is it that when energy company reps cut in following their company's exposure of another massive blunder, the op never comes back on here to tell us what they did to solve the problem?

Are people pressured into keeping quiet?

I find it hard to believe that all these people are rude enough never to report back to let others benefit from their experience.

What I did notice, is a tendency of the reps to do little more than stating how sorry they are to hear of this unusual problem, and how keen they are to help.
I can not remember a single case where the rep admitted fault or took responsibility on behalf of the supplier.
Am I the only one that suspects their presence here is not lead by the companies' willingness to help, but to do what they can to cover things up in a bid to hide exposure on MSE?

Because every single one of them has been the victim of a tragic accident with a road-roller.

As one of the posters who interacts a lot with the Energy Company Reps I think we have to understand their involvement.

I rarely find myself agreeing with a lot of what they say but I do respect their input to the Forum. On matters of policy, the customer based posters ,like myself are inevitably going to clash from time to time and I think we each take the issues as far as we can, largely in a civil manner.

On individual complaints,we get a lot of one off posters looking for help. They don't have the same depth of interest in the industry as the regulars and once the problem is resolved they move along.

I don't detect a conspiracy and the Reps won't want to go on washing their dirty laundry in public.

Although,I seem to have differences of opinion with many of the Reps and have much more licence than they do to dish it out, I have respect for all of the Eon, SP and other Reps, who still remain calm and controlled. After all they are doing a tough job, dealing with the mucky end of the business.

EDF, on the other hand, failed to respond to my many requests to help customers by putting up a Rep. IMHO they are the losers in all this.

Thanks for that! I have read your responses on the EON and other forum questions. My dilemma you will have noted is with Staywarm for a friend and with Go Direct 5 which I need to leave at the end of December. I have had a response from EON in regard to my Friends dilemma. She is coming to see me this pm and hope that I can help her with making a choice. Reading about how EOC are going to change the way the collect in April whatever overspend she makes during the winter rather than let her summer months even it out) Am I understanding the situation correctly.
For me I am not going to get a deal like Go Direct 5 anywhere but it is where to go. Atlantic and SEE have been good Companies to be with Also I note that M&S had a good record. Other like Scottish Power seem to have lower Customer Service Records. Who to take the lowest or the one that seems to have a better record. My Electricity use will be higher this winter as last year I was in Australia for 8 weeks during the real snow and what went with it.
YOu seem very to be very grounded and fair in your responses and I would value your Opinion Many thanks

    Susan,

I have advised on the Staywarm issue on the Staywarm thread.

The principles are the same for yours. Use a comparison site. If the costs come out close, then you can into the finer points. If there is a clear winner then they are probably the best choice.

The current nasties imho are the NPower and Atlantic 'deferred £100 discounts' and the Eon zero spring balance policy. the latter is more of a cash flow issue than a cost.

    :)
