Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll stick with the Sensor Excels.

Ever thought about going electric/battery? You dont need foam/gel, your skin doesnt get dried out by all the chemical stuff, a nice bit of balm or moisturiser afterwards and your good to go. The 'foils' need replacing after a couple years granted, but the machine itself can last a long long time (mine is 10 years old now and just replaced it).

Its not for everyone as its still not quite as smooth after as a wet shave but the newest ones are pretty darn close.

I've tried leccie shavers several times over the years but always gone back to wet shaving.

i find electric razors ....hmmm lets see... oh yes less than useless.
Tried various brands braun philishave et al .

Maybe it's different for everyone but electric is pointless for my stuble/skin.

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying
  • Any ladies looking at this, I've just tried Venus's disposable ones because I think they've hiked the price on the replaceable blades too much for me now and they're just as good as the Venus Divine ones... and only about £4 for 8.

I may well be shooting myself in the foot giving out this one ...

Home bargains are doing these blades

The 4 pack is 99p or the 8 pack is £1.99 ( yep 1p more expensive)

The problem is the shaving stick is not on sale and I couldn't find it reduced anywhere.

I bought one from amazon ..Link here

This is (at the moment) £8.95 with 2 spare blades + £3.45 shipping

But if you spend £10 or £20 on blades from home bargains then you are shaving for pretty damn cheap.

Best to make sure your homebargains has these blades ( in mine they are sold with the perfumes)

I use a Gillette Contour Plus. Shave everyday and a change the blade cartridge probably every 3/4 weeks. Disposing of a blade after 2/3 shaves sounds excessive to me but I also know blokes that need to shave twice a day their facial hair grows so quickly and thick as well. I also use a brush and palmolive for applying the lather. Can get the blades for circa £4 on Amazon though sometimes the supermarkets and superdrug have bogofs.

i wonder why drying them off makes them last longer than if you leave them wet? didn't think water was that corrosive
Come on, it's not rocket surgery is it?

At the moment I'm going through a Gillette Fusion "phase" - not because I particularly like a 5 bladed razor, but because I happened to be in Asda when they reduced their "razor handle and 10 blades" packs down to something ridiculous like a fiver each. "I'll have a few of those" was my reaction to the chap reducing them! I've probably got at least 18 months worth in my stash!

With them goes Asda supplied "Nuage" shaving oil which is £1 per cannister which again lasts well and doesn't dry your skin out. Frankly some base oil with a dab of essential oil in it would do the same job - makes for a fantastic smooth glide.

Put some milk on your face and let the cat lick it off.
    That should do it!
