Any idea why refund is "pending"?

Hi there, just wondered if anyone else had had this. I bought an item on ebay, which never arrived. The listing stated recorded delievery, but when seller finally replied to my emails they stated they hadn't bothered with the recorded, just posted standard. The seller hasn't been great at replying to messages, but eventually I had an email from paypal saying I had been refunded, but when i checked my acount it says "pending until 10th November". Any ideas why this might be? Many Thanks

    its a refund thats being processed from a debit card not from paypal balance'; if there isnt enough money in the sellers bank account payment still might fail ;)

    ok, thanks. If it does fail, do you know what happens next? I haven't opened a dispute as it appeared to be getting sorted.

    If the payment's coming from their bank account it takes around 10 days.
