A placement on the work program does not mean doing work for pay (for those on ESA).
There are none of the usual work protections.
It could be - for example - an hour a day filling in dummy job applications.
Or it could be an hour a day role-play in dummy interviews.
This would be plenty to cause me to go from barely coping with my fatigue, to being completely exhausted and unable to get out of bed, after a day or three.0 -

I took placement to mean work so i was trying to to see if you knew of any loopholes they could abuse, regardless i am acutely aware they can tighten the screws any time they wish and cause me to relapse from to much work as you mentioned.
My current adviser thinks his being thoughtful of my needs but he can't know because he's not an occupational therapist, they would understand a lot more about CFS, pacing and grading, unrefreshed sleep, the impact of stress, cognitive disfunction but most important is the post exertional malaise which is a completely alien concept to the average person.
I like my adviser but his way out of his depth and the whole thing is so frustratingly hit and miss because they are not using the right professionals. That might be cost effective for the Government but with my health on a knife edge its just not good enough in my eyes.
This is however something that is a little different for the OP who doesn't have CFS, if you don't mind me asking have you been to a CFS clinic?0 -

Nope - I should try to push my doctor to see if there is any possibility of referral to one.
But even getting to the doctor is problematic, so ...0 -
