kevinheb - I've just remembered I installed one of these a few months ago and actually had the same sort of problem, can't believe i didn't remember earlier!
Try it out of the case and see if works.

I wasn't going to mention this because it shouldn't be true... I've had a few cases where a pc wouldn't start if the keyboard and mouse were swapped. Went to one house where the pc wouldn't start and it turned out either the mouse or keyboard had come loose, and no I have no idea why that would affect it, but I plugged it in and off it went.0

thank you guys, I've just got home and I've tried it out of the case, no change, and I have just plugged in a mouse and keyboard and no change!!!!!
BTW, should a 533MHz Bus processor plug into a 400 MHz Bus only motherboard? Are there any voltage differences that could damage either component??
Still looking for answers for the main problem though, and I am still pulling my hair out, there's not much left of it0
