Hi,
Not sure if this is the right form for my question so if needed, please move it mods!
I'm moving to Beijing in January and would like my parents to be able to visit for a couple of weeks. My dad is 73 and my mum will be 70 in February and after their Aruba holiday in September, they had said that would be their last long haul as insurance costs were getting too expensive.
Can anyone recommend a good travel insurer for them? They both have a couple of health conditions, nothing major, Dad has hardening of the arteries and takes medication for that and for a blood disorder, which isn't a big problem. They've both had knee replacements and recently mum had a half shoulder replacement, but they are reasonably healthy for their age.
They normally book package holidays but if they come to Beijing, it wouldn't be a package holiday but flight only and they would obviously stay with us.
Thanks very much

Dont know if its much help but my parents have their travel insurance through the bank. They pay so much a month for the current account and its covered. Works out cheaper than getting travel insuranceLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0

Being 70+ and having pre-existing medical conditions will always force up the cost of travel insurance but there are several companies that will quote to cover your parents.
I think the answer is to shop around. Get at least three quotes. Marks and Spencer, Age UK and Saga are good places to start.
It's possible one company will come in way less than another because they have different underwriters and different criteria for judging medical conditions.
You could mention that you don't need cover for accommodation but the effect on the premium would be minimal because the most expensive component is medical care.
It's tough on elderly people to have to pay more for insurance but something they may have to accept.
If you're still thinking of what to but them for Christmas.....0 -
Hi,
I've used Globelink.co.uk travel insurance for my parents. They provide cover for people aged to 84 years and cover for many pre-existing medical conditions. Globelink is the best/cheapest option I've found.0 -
Thanks to those who posted suggestions, it's very helpful. DH did say that if my Dad thought the cost might be a bit prohibitive then he would be happy to pay any difference between what they paid for their insurance this year and what they might have to pay to visit us.
It would be a cheaper holiday in way so they would save there
I'll certainly pass on the suggestions given to them.
Thanks again0
