Help with HP printer/scanner

I have an HP C4585 and am trying to scan some negatives so I se the resolution high and tried to scan, some action but then nothing just says scanning. So I shut it down and tried to have another go, been saying Trying to open scanner session for over 20 mins. Help.

Restart the PC then set it to scan but at a more usual resolution to see if it runs

Most of my scanners will not scan at any where near their capability and will usually sit there for a minute before displaying an insufficient memory box and even if it did scan at a high resolution, the printer would then most likely have the same thing with memory, with mine, the printers do not do anything with an image which is over 600MB

Thanks, I shut computer and scanner down and restarted, problem still there but it had disappeared overnight and now it seems OK. Just wondering if there is a code or something to force quit the scanning process?

You should be able to right click the taskbar, click task manager, if it is in the applications tab, left click it to highlight it, then right click it and click end process. That can take a while to happen, but if it does not end the process, click the processes tab, left click anything HP, then right click and click end process, end any HP processes.
