Course let down !!

Hi Guys,

Hope you can help.

Signed up for a course which consisted of 6 modules and paid £165.00.

I had to travel a couple of hours each time I had to attend, but last week I struggled through over 2 hours of traffic and recruited cover for my work which cost £20.00.

When I got there the instructor didnt turn up !!

We all hung about for 40 minuted but then we all left and I made the 2 hours return trip home.

What reasonable here guys ??

Regards
Matty

What explanation did he give when you contacted them to ask where he was?

It was a Football Association Coaching course.

I am guessing that it was just a mis-communication between the organisers.

However it cost me 4 hours, over 100 miles worth of petrol and I paid a colleague £20 to cover for me to attend, it is all documented on their scheduling.

We are currently not in dispute and they have accepted that some compensation might be appropriate, but I needed to know what would reasonable and maybe where legally I stand.

    Thanks

    Matty

Reasonable would be to cover any costs you incurred.

pay your petrol money maybe i doubt they'll pay to cover what you spent getting someone to work your shift.

    it is a pain though
Come on, it's not rocket surgery is it?

Did you have to attend on another day for that same module?

If yes, then I'd ask them to pay the £20 it cost you to cover your work AGAIN, plus 40p/mile petrol costs (petrol plus wear and tear on car).
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Make it 45p a mile, HMRC have recently upped the acceptable rate.
