Paypass Error

I have used my card several times today. Two of them were paypass transactions and went through fine. I then went to a Cafe and it instantly said Authorisation failed. I did a Chip and Pin transaction in the Cafe just fine.
Is this a common occurrence?

I think when the device bleeps the assist must think that card must be stolen then your heart will pound until the transaction goes through.
Do you have any other contactless/paypass cards? im not sure if them being next to each other in say your purse/wallet causes any problems at all when it comes to making payments.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

I don't see why it would. For a start they'd have to issue warnings, and it's also a pretty major flaw in the system if they did! I've never had any issues keeping my various transport smart cards touching each other (not quite the same I know, but similar principle).
Oh and reclusive isn't losing the plot, I think you just misread one of their posts. They said they didn't have any other contactless cards, just the virgin card (i.e. the card the issue is with).0 -
I've been looking up the issue and it might be something to do with Risk management.
All Paypass transactions are done offline (Thats why its max 5 before pin). If too many paypass transactions are done within short time the chip may decide it is risky behaviour. Also we have no way of knowing if other normal c & p transactions have happend offline (Below floor limit). If they had then that would count towards the max 5 offline transactions.
On average most credit card issuers have an offline max counter of 5.0
