Can you leave feedback if you've cancelled transaction?

I've sold an item on ebay and the buyer now wants to cancel. They say it's due to a defect with the item but this was very clearly explained in the description. I've done a second chance offer but the other bidder didn't take it up. The next bidder below them is much much less than the amount it sold for so I don't really want to do this and I'm a bit peed off!
If I give them their money back and cancel the transaction through ebay is there any way they can leave feedback? I'd quite like to give them a (polite) piece of my mind, especially as they were quite abrupt in their e-mail but don't want to risk a neg or low DSR's over something quite trivial.
Any advice appreciated!

Just refund the money (through e bay then you get the fees returned), block them from bidding in the future and move on. I've had a few cancel (usually little Johnny bid for it, they claim. And they didn't really want it). But it's not worth getting into a battle, it really isn't.
Once the transaction is cancelled it isn't possible to leave feedback.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Hmm in some transaction which I canceled in the past, I can still leave feedback though.
If the person left you negative feedback, just report it to ebay, then the feedback will be removed. If it's a positive feedback, you've gain 1 more point!0 -

You don't get your fees back unless you cancel. Refunding gives no EBay fees back automatically.Once the transaction is cancelled it isn't possible to leave feedback.
A buyer and seller can still leave feedback.
Only if the seller opens a NPB and it is closed four days later with no response from the buyer does the system prevent either party leaving feedback.0
