You have to be a bit careful with what you send to Oz, they are very careful about what they let in: http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/mail/cant-mail

Thank you, after a quick read it looks like anything in raw state or living?
So packed chocolates and sweets should be okay?

I know they have been okay sending me sweets (butter menthols)

From watching Border Force I seem to recall seeds are a definite no no.

They do have Cadbury's chocolate in Aus, but it tastes vile compared to ours as there is something added to make it less melty in their hot temperatures. You could send them Freddo Frogs for the boys, they don't have those - they have Caramello Koala instead :D

My cousins in Australia have asked for some Blackpool rock, it don`t taste the same as the rock they get over there lol
  • not edible, but Man U duvet sets for the boys? Man U seem to be an internationally-accepted football team.

Chocolate - Australian cadbury's tastes funny. They don't have Galaxy over there either. And I like Hotel Chocolate for a more luxurious gift - I bought a box for my boyfriends parents in Canada, it says British grown on the front so makes a nice gift for overseas, plus they're pretty and delicious.

Nice local fudge, kendal mint cake, or scottish tablet, depending on where you're from.

Caramel popcorn, eg butterkist - they don't seem to have that kind of popcorn in Australia.

When I was in Australia I used to get people to send me sachets of face mask and hair treatments, as they are about $4 over there and hard to find, whereas you can often get them for less than a pound here. But that's not much use if it's for a family with boys... But if anyone reading this thread needs an idea of what to send to a girl in Australia, this kind of thing would be perfect!

Marmite? They all prefer vegemite over there, but if you sent a little pot they'd probably enjoy trying it, then denouncing is as inferior :).

I can't think of anything else right now, but if I do I'll come back - I was in Australia for a year, so I'm trying to remember all the things I had cravings for. I think it was mainly cheese though, and that wouldn't post well/please the customs people.

Jaffa cakes! My ex-pat friend misses them like mad as they can't get them over there apparently. Always send a load over :)

  • Ooo thank you all, lots of things here that I'd never thought of (having never been to Australia and them never been here, its always quite tricky to know)

I don't send them things often (probably only once a year) so this could turn into a nice little bundle of things.

The boys are football mad (and Man Utd), as a Liverpool supporter myself I'm not sure I can bring myself to buy Utd stuff, hehe. Maybe something football related from my local team.

Jaffa cakes is great idea, they're my all time favourite so I'll definitely add some of them.

    Thank you all for ideas
