Which Laptop for My Armed Forces son . Please Help !

johnwey

Hello

Hope someone can help me . My Son is in the Armed forces and will be posted out to the Falklands soon . I would like to get him a laptop for xmas , so he can use it to see and talk to his girlfiend over the webcam via skype ? I think thats right not very Techie !

The lap top would be for everyday use and needs to have a built in webcam , with a good picture so he can see the young lady

So there you have it , I have posted two links below of some I have found and would appreciate it if you could give your opinions , or if you reccomend another one ?

Task for the day help a Forces Lad !! Many Thanks Guys

either will do, the one at sainsburys has got a better processor and a bigger hard drive, but doesnt state what the webcam is on it, however i would expect it is simular to the other at 1.3mp

Yes the Sainsbury's one is better

But a netbook might be better if he needs something portable for travelling

I think that will cost well in excess of £300.

My husband is in the Falklands now, they get 45mins free internet a day in the PC room, and a 30 min phone card for the week. Best way for him to keep in touch is to ring from a phone (they are in most accommodation blocks and the cable stretches to inside the room), and get her to ring back the extension number through the UK MOD call centre. Otherwise he will be paying a fortune!

Oops, just read that you have already bought it! My advice still stands though.

There's no free wi-fi in the rooms, I'm not sure what kind of data allowance you get with the RAF cards but the phone card that you buy rather than get weekly is about £1/minute!
