Suddenly yesterday afternoon I found I could not send out Emails from Outlook, this has also happened on my husbands computer. The above error message comes up. This is only happening with mail boxes on my domain name and I can send email from my eclipse mail box. Unfortunately my husband only has the domain name mail box. So I think it is to do with my hosting people who are in the States (I've used them for several years with no problem) and because of the time difference its taking a while to communicate with them.
Anyone have any suggestions what could be causing this error.

Default RE: cant send some emails - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC6F)

I went throug that yesterday. Sent messages were going to Outbox. Here is what I did to fix the problem. Go to Control Panel, open "Mail". Select "Properties." Delete and re-enter your information. Don't overlook the password (that was my problem). Select "Connection" and check Incoming (POP3) and Outgoing (SMTP) listings are correct. Select "Advanced" and see that your Port Server for Incoming (POP3) and Outgoing (SMTP) are correct. Mine are 25 and 110. Close. Go to your mail program and send a test email. If you have configured properly, test email will not go to the Outbox. If It does, go back to Control Panel, Mail, delete all your settings and re-enter them. Then send another test email That should do it

Luckily our computer guy came round this morning and we changed the domain name mailbox's smtp box to the eclipse (our ISP) mailbox's info and it worked, did this on both computers. Apparently it was something that Eclipse had done in their updating of the email server so it would not recognise the domain name info. Apparently quite a few ISP's are doing this.
Sorted now, hope this helps anyone else who has this problem.0 -
Thanks 'HappyMedium'. Jack of all trades - today IT expert. Normal job - running a small company and have found that my settings for email have indeed changed. My ISP has obviously made changes forcing me to change the outgoing SMTP server to orangehome.co.uk.
I was perfectly ok before and didn't need this extra trouble. Was I informed and therefore personally incompetent or has some organisation cost me a week of sent emails (I work away and rely on the 'management' at home) and 3 hours of my family time on a Saturday morning ... ?0
