Overseas c/card dilema

Options
I spent 8 weeks last year travelling overseas, and used my Nationwide Cashback Credit Card for everything. I use credit as debit so never have had to pay interest and, with the introduction bonus, got a nice cashback at the end of the year. Was planning to do the same when i go to the USA for 1 month in June, but been informed Nationwide no longer offer cashback on overseas purchases (does this include on-line shopping on ebay etc?)
Is this true and are Nationwide still the best to use overseas for purchases, and debit card withdrawals, or does anyone else offer free use abroad and bonuses?

Comments

  • I still think the Nationwide's credit card is one of the best to use abroad, even without the cashback. Considering some cards charge upwards of 2.75% conversion fees whereas Nationwide charges zero, it'a no brainer!

It may be worth converting your Nationwide card into a classic card - see my posts on this thread:

As it's Red Nose Day, why not switch your account to a Nationwide Comic Relief Visa - they're giving £11.30 to Comic Relief for new accounts opened by 30th April, plus 0.5% of the value of purchases on the card. You don't get an introductory 6 month interest-free period like you do with the Classic Card, but you do get up to 56 days interest-free credit (the Cash Reward card is being reduced to 46 days).
