call them in and keep them on the door step, say im going in for some money but advice by taking it they are acting illegally, then go back with some pennies after a least an hour.

Collectors are self employed , i think they will get the message.

If the do call, and it is a big if, definitely do not invite them in, that advice is crazy:eek: either ignore them or just ask them politely to leave or you will call the police.

Apart from aspects of personal security, and the sound advice of not allowing strangers to access one's home.....as with, for example, double glazing sales people....there is actually no reason, in legal terms, for not inviting them inside, providing one was comfortable with the situation.

This should not be confused with the advice given out [on here??] when dealing with Court-appointed bailiffs, acting under specific Court instructions.

A debt collector, acting for a DCA, has no legal powers of access, whether invited or not.

The use of personal visits by DCAs is to exert pressure upon an apparent debtor.

I, personally, could ,and would, comfortably deal with a whole flock of them....

Perhaps Mandy might be advised not to go quite that far....?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

mandy i to have had some rough dealings with this shoddy company. They talked me into paying 208 a month for six months to clear a debt of 1200. i managed for three months but had to cancel. asked advice on here and it has been sound. Canceled the DD had some letters. letters filed safely setting up a DD for 15.50 a month to clear debt within five years. I know they wont accept it but thats the deal. If halifax and barclys can set me up on a debt of 10000 each, stop all charges, intrest etc and be helpful why should i pay moorcroft that money for there profit that quick when the big debts have been helpful and not demanded just asked what i could manage.
take care mandi and good luck at ignoring them

Make some hash cakes and then invite them in for tea and cakes.....i would love to do it just to see them lose it..:):)
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • I know this is an old thread, but I'm having this same problem with them at the moment! They keep ringing my mother's house, and they sent an agent out who accused my sister of being me, called her a liar, and demanded to see her passport! (I don't even live there)

I rang them, explained AGAIN that I was BR, the debt they were chasing was included, and to speak to OR. They said no  and they wanted details of BR order. I explained they've had it before, didn't have paperwork to hand as I wasn't at home, and told them to look on Insolvency Register. They said they didn't know how?!? Then they asked me for my current address, so I told them to look on the IR and they will find it there :rotfl:

I find it bizarre, do they actually think that I'm going to give them the money (and it's £14K, so not exactly loose change) when I'm not even allowed to post-BR? Why are they wasting their resources on it? If they hadn't been so horrible to my sister I would just happily string them along, but it's not fair on her if they call again.

I had experience of them keep phoning me I asked them to hold on a moment, left them hanging on phone, made myself a coffee tidied round kitchen and after a while they gave up and hung up. They are not nice co to deal with at all. The letters and phone calls did finally stop after BR- took a few months re this shower.

Since BR I have changed my land line no and got a new PAYG mobile no found that helped me personally.

    Keep strong will stop.

The actual men on the ground are muscle and have no clue about legal rights and wrongs. There needs to be legislation so that they must know what they are talking about before harrassing people. Gah moroncrofts!
