i know its late, and off topic.. but i havent got anyone else to ask just now.... hope someone on here can help.... Google is just not helping either.. so would rather speak to someone 'live'so to speak
I have a stinking cold and blocked nose/sinuses etc - im currently 35+ weeks pregnant - i want to take a lemsip drink ( well, Tescos own brand version lol) - but it says on it to consult doctor beforehand if pregnant or breastfeeding.... is this just a precautionary thing you recon? will i be ok taking it? really need something b4 bed...

Its a bit late for last night but the most effective thing I find with a head cold is menthol crystals you can get them from most chemists but you have to ask. They come in a small pot less than £2 the pot is about an inch & a half tall. Put very little, about the size of your little fingernail in a sink full of boiling water put a towel over your head & breath in. Do this a couple of times a day you'll feel so much better and won't have the headache which the blocked nose causes and no need for painkillers.

Menthol is one of the ingredients of vicks vapour rub but steaming with menthol crystals is more pleasant

My German is a bit dodgy! Glitches might get lost in translation.:rotfl:

I did French, Latin & German at school but apart from bread I think I would struggle with food. I can still remember where is the Post Office.

Busy day today but it's now DAY10 of nikkilala's no smoking journey, £70 in the pot:T:T:Tand today I swear my eyes are looking "shinier" and whiter. Getting easier everyday;)
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

Aww thanks. She started when she was 6 months old but fell ill and stopped. Our lives got away with us having dd2 etc andnever got back round to it. She just turned 3 and I panicked that I forgot to put her back in. We still go swimming but it's not the same as teaching her to be confident and independent without me

I suffered really badly when I was pregnant last winter and also had asthma complications. I was desperate for something but I was told by GPs and pharmacists not to take Lemsip. I was reduced to paracetamol and hot honey & lemon. I was finally prescribed steroids to stop my asthma killing me (A&E and on nebuliser) but when it comes to being preggers, always best to check with a professional and not rely on heresay (especially not the reality TV band) for advice. A GP may well ok it but it depends on whether the good outweighs the bad.

my midwife says we can only use menthol crystals and paracetamol but i am on other medication to keep baby in so its worth checking (if you phone the ante natal clinic they will advise)
