I work for a garage and they tell lots of people not to claim, even if its not your fault as it can put up both parties insurance.
Did you get the persons phone no. or if not try to negotiate with your insurance co.....I did and the lady we drove into was really up for claiming off our insurance and was really horrid, then out of the blue (after I asked my insurance co to negotiate) she decided that if I wrote her a cheque she would not claim.
The total was much less than expected and was only just over £100!! I got her insurance co to send a letter by return to say "this cheque is in full and final settlement for the accident and no further claim can be made".
My insurance with my no claims is £250 putting my hubbie as a named driver with the claim makes it £750 :mad:
And will be for next 5 years

Well my insurance has another nought on that and the excess is £750 for under 25 and £500 for the old uns, see why I was devasted over a little scratch.0
