if I do a check on standard of service SSE Atlantic ..... have the best records.

Well, maybe. But it is not stopping them (so far) only offering you a Standard (i.e. most expensive) tariff when there are other suppliers on the open market offering a 10% discount. Is that a measure of a supplier that cares about your custom?

BTW, none do, which is why I rank price above service, and with Edf that's exactly what I get:D.

Thank you for that I had not thought about whether they were offering me the best tariffe. I will look seriously at the £ cost and take that into consideration when I make my decision

susan 1942, if your friend is over 60, and on pension credits or some sort of disability benefit, and any other residents at the household must be over 60, if staywarm not best option, could be worth asking eon about warmassist. Do remember, Staywarm is a comfort product, within reason, the customer can use as much energy as they require, without getting a huge quarterly bill to settle the difference against cost based on the meter readings and what the customer has paid, Staywarm agrees an mdd for 12 months, it does not change irrespective of consumption. Take careful note of your friends consumption, as in some cases it is not always beneficial to swap away from staywarm, particularly if v high gas user.
