Dixons customer services

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help

DH bought a router of dixons online. Long story short and after waiting several days it arrived yesterday. When it came it did not have the specs advertised on the internet. DH went to PC world while shopping last night and the manager checked the box and said " no your right it is wrong on the internet ring up customer services as they should replace it to one with the spec advertised as they always do this"

He has rang customer services today and as there is no free number and been on hold for half an hour they have offered £10 in compensation for our trouble.

We do not want compensation we just want the spec advertised and paid for. It now means DH has to go to work instead of working at home next week which will cost us in fuel etc so we will be out of pocket. Should they send a replacement with the spec advertised and paid for?? we was ok until customer services said to DH she only had his word he was telling the truth about the spec  he told her to ring a store and get them to read the box but she refused and still said he was lying

Should I ring trading standards on Monday?

just really miffed as basically told it is our fault for not reading properly .......we have read properly or would not have chosen that one!!!

What options do we have or are we being unreasonable just because we had a bad customer service lady?

Why when he was at PC World didn't he pick up the one he needed to work from home? Out of all the routers they sell are you really telling me that they don't have the spec or somewhere else such as Maplin, Comet, Currys do not sell what he needs.

Then send the one back to Dixons for a refund, simple and you get £10 as well.

Mistakes happening, once pointed out Dixons should alter the text on the website and ensure they replace/refund anyone who has been sold it incorrectly and wants a refund/repacement.
  • they are out of stock at pc world for the one with the spec he needs, that is why he did not buy it.

How about Currys, Comet and some others Argos, a large Tesco, Asda. I simply can't believe that a suitable router could not be bought before the end of the weekend.
  • Yes that is what he is going to do today. It is a two hour round trip from where we live which is why he is so annoyed. That and the fact it was there mistake and they have called him a liar. Plus there is the added pain of taking it back to the PO paying recorded delivery, waiting for them to get it back, fight for the postage, scan postage receipt, still wait for postage money and finally get the refund.

It is a lot of messing around on his behalf for their mistake.
