  • Leave it in the hands of ebay and stop communicating directly with him, particularly if his conduct is questionable at best, sinister and threatening at worst.

Ebay ALWAYS favour the buyer anyway and if he's not responding your allegations via the case, ebay will automatically refund you.

Seriously, this all sounds quite frightening. I'd be inclined to mention via the case notes that you find the behaviour intimidating and you've contacted the police.
  • thanks Flowerbomb - it's been so damm hard not to bite back at them, as much as I would like to! But I've kept my communication with them polite and above board at all times.

  • Has the case been escalated? If not, do so as soon as you can, ring eBay if needs be and see if they can escalate it, explaining the threats and lack of return address.

I'm going to be able to escalate this with ebay as from tomorrow. After their first vitriolic reply to my request for a resolution to the matter I opened a case against them,

I'll have my big rufty tufty ex-solider husband at home, my son is home on leave from the Army too. As well as that I have three highly trained attack cats and two daft border collies ;)

Unfortunately the seller neither put a return address on the envelope, nor did they enclose an invoice with the item.

I just "knew" from the tone of their first couple of replies that I wouldn't get any resolution from them without opening a case, so did so as soon as I started receiving the nasty emails.

I'm going to be giving ebay a call today about the tone of the sellers communication, at the very least I feel it's unprofessional from a seller and at worst it could be construed as cyberbullying.

What seller would do that much internet research that they could mention things in an email about the house and area you live in? I find that part of it very puzzling indeed!
  • I would just like to say a great big thank you for all the help and advice I was given regarding this problem.

I contacted Ebay on the Thursday and reported the seller for the abusive messages sent and they said they were going to investigate the matter.

That evening I got a reminder email through from the resolution centre about the case. So I duly filled in that I'd not heard from the seller about any resolution to the matter and that I believed that I'd been sold counterfeit goods.

Within minutes I received a reply back saying the money had been refunded:beer:

And I haven't heard a peep from the seller since! I just wish I could leave a comment on their feedback which would leave people in no doubt about how they conduct themselves when a buyer has issues.
  • Excellent news. Thank you for the update.

I was going to say that I got messages like this from a buyer (one threatned to physically harm me), in the end I said I was reporting it to eBay and the Police because they were not going to threaten and bully me by email and that any further messages would be sent onto them to deal with. I did not hear anything after that.
