They stop as the DLA stops.
This is why you submit the renewal forms well in time.0 -
Yep. Everything stops.
You get renewal forms at least 3 months in advance and a fairly quick decision.0 -
I sent in my DLA forms about 3 months ago and only recently got a letter from ATOS saying I was going to get a visit from one of their Drs.
He only rang me last Tuesday saying he would like to set a date up to come and see me.(mesage left on ansaphone).
I contacted him the next day and he was obviously talking to someone else and said he would ring me Thursday.
He rang and left a message on Saturday and then carried on trying to get me all weekend.
I have trouble with phone conversations and assumed he would send me a letter.
I eventually sent him a text and he rang me leaving a message saying he could not text.
Anyway he came today and it was all over in less than 40 mins.
He didn't really listen to me and just kept saying things like "you cook nice meals for yourself and "you have done a lovely job in your garden"
I have a gardener and now wondering how the claim will go.
In hindsight I might as well not have been there.
Will have to see what happens but I was on higher rate mobility and care and it runs out on the 23rd.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

ummmm another one bites the dust!!!
Did he have you sign his report? They do that so that you can't contest what he has written if you appeal.
I do hope that you haven't fallen into the trap and taken on a Motability car?0 -

I did have a car early on but I didn't like it and so had the cash instead.
He asked me to sign something to say that he had attended at the agreed appointment.
It was a total farce and people need to be really aware.
Is it possible they can take me off the higher rates down to nothing even though I told him my symptoms had worsened and I showed him m y morphine etc?
What a nightmare.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

Yes I have heard it from personal experience and on this and other similar forums.
You have probably signed that you agreed with what was written down is actually what you said and that you are satisfied that the report is a true reflection of your problems.
They do a similar thing when you claim other benefits - ie. IIDB for example.
Did you read the report through and did you ask for a copy? Most people in these circumstances have a witness during the home assessment.
The Decision Maker will review the report and decide based on that report if you are entitled to a DLA award and at what rate.
Some actually go to the extreme lengths of having the home assessment recorded and some even video it!0 -

I didn't sign anything at the end.
He scooped the form up and put it in his folder and said "that's it
you will have to wait and see what happens".
I suffer from diffferent things but I never got the chance to say how they affect me because he kept jumping backwards and forwards to other questions.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

Hmmmm, they seem to find more and more dirty tricks to stop people getting DLA. I have had to go to tribunal stage for both my awards, at the last one the medical was a farce. I had been awarded a blue badge following a hospital assessment because my old one expired before the tribunal for DLA renewal. The ATOS GP (and I use the term GP very loosely) said on his report I could walk in excess of 200 metres in a normal manner and speed and without any discomfort. The main problem with that apart from it being rubbish, was that he never saw me walking anywhere, not even one step!!
I wasn't aware that they were asking you to sign their report now, so that is a heads up for me come next year when mine runs out. I will not be signing his report however, so it could be fun. Maybe we should all write our reports on how dishonest their reports are and ask them to sign to say they agree with it.
Hope it works out for you but if you want to start preparing yourself for having to go to a tribunal it might not be a bad thing.0 -
I'm just starting to get myself set up to complain to ATOS and will be going to the local Law Centre and contacting the local MP.Hmmmm, they seem to find more and more dirty tricks to stop people getting DLA.
