Ebay sellers selling Thundercats dvd box set as "very rare"

Options
Just a quick warning (although I'm sure there are many) regarding the sale of Thundercats Region 2 (our region) box sets for over the odds on ebay, advertised as "not available in any shop" and "very rare".

This is extremely misleading as the boxsets are currently available on HMV.com for £15.99 with free delivery.

Not sure if this was the right place to post this so feel free to move, it just winds me up to see people mislead.

I actually placed a low bid on one of these and when questioned regarding the item's availability the seller in question sent the following response:

"If you were to read my listing it says not available in shops! didnt say anything about on line - !! Please understand what you are reading before sending pointless emails"

For the record, I did read the listing correctly and was referring to the "very rare" part of the listing.

Sorry for my rant but

There are many many misleading auctions on ebay, often far worse than this one....

Surely though no one buys on ebay without first doing a quick online check?

The sellers can say what they want about items, it is up to the buyers to decide just how rare something is.

    Soo

Caveat emptor. Surely if you're buying DVD boxsets you'll look elsewhere before turning to eBay?

You could spend your life "warning" others about misleading, fake, scam, dodgy listings on Ebay.
Very Rare in the listing does not mean diddly.
I consider myself fairly knowledgable regards ebay but even I have been ripped off in my time.
  • I have to agree, you could spend all day and all night putting warnings on forums against dodgy ebay items.

It really is up to the buyer to look around and do a bit of pre-bid research..I always do even if what i buy is very everyday.

Although, what i would say is that when an item is listed as 'rare' or even 'unique' it can be hard to find any information on it, but this doesnt mean that it/isnt rare and not priced as such. In which case a warning to others is appreciated.

oh they do, some people really seriously dont think to look about elsewhere first, ebay is advertised as a place to get great bargains and people take that as fact.
