credit scores are useless and have little meaning0

You need to check Experian as well as Equifax. Experian is the largest of the CRAs and the info they record is not always the same. You might want to add the third CRA, Callcredit, for good measure, although it is the smallest and not many companies use them. Scores mean nothing except that they make loads of money for the CRAs. Lenders have their own criteria, they do not use CRA inhouse "scores" for which the public pay £5.95 a time!!0

To answer your question, you get free Experian Credit Scores if you take up the CreditExpert 30-day free trial. This score is based on the scorecards we build for many lenders, although it will differ because lenders factor additional data sources into their scores. Still a useful guide to the state of your personal credit history IMHO.
By the way, did the phone provider tell you which CRA they used? They certainly should do, so you know where to make enquiries.

You should be more interested in your credit report. Make sure that everything on there is correct and that you are showing as on the electoral role.
Don't worry about the score. It is meaningless in the real world. If it is free then it's a bit of fun, but don't waste good money (or sleep) on it.0 -
Getting any such score is a waste of money. You should only look at a score if it’s included in your free trial.
You could always give yourself a score:
+50 for each form of credit you have been paying that has 0 missed payments in the last 6 years
+25 for each year you have lived in your address and been registered on the electoral roll (max 6 years)
+100 in the level of debt you have is less than 10% if your annual salary
+100 if the amount of available credit you have is less than 20% of your annual salary
+250 if you have more than £2million in available assets
-100 for each missed payment on a credit agreement
-250 for each default, CCJ or if you have been bankrupt (in the last 6 years)
-300 if you were ever silly enough to pay Vanquis, Aqua or Capital One interest
Minimum total 250 maximum total 1000
250-350 – very poor credit score
351-450 – poor credit score
451-550 – fair credit score
551-650 – average credit score
651-750 – good credit score
751-850 – very good credit score
851-950 – excellent credit score
950-1000 – you’re on your way to Coutts
Thank you that’ll be £5.99
No harm intended.Don't thank me, thank my post :T
