Straightforward Tax Credit question - 30hr element

Evening
Quick question.
Normal contracted hours - 27.
Since Feb been working 30hrs (covering maternity leave) and therefore entitled to, and claiming the 30hr element.
As of Monday I revert to my usual contracted hours.
Is there a 4 week run-on or will the 30hr element drop out with immediate effect?
Thanks for your help.

You can have a run-on but can't you find anything to do for just 3 hours per week. It does not need to be in "employment" as such it can be anything to do with self employment. Minding a neighbours/friends child once a week for 3 hours in exchange for a couple of quid counts.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I did think about this but was worried about falling foul of regulations re "proper" employment.DF

There are tonnes of things you could do to make up the hours. I do mystery shopping it's quite fun too. You need to register as self employed with the HMRC and run it as a business. There is no need to make a profit as such but all the work you do has to be in return for money. i.e voluntary work or work for free does not count.backinbusiness wrote: »I did think about this but was worried about falling foul of regulations re "proper" employment.:footie:

You would only receive a run on if your entitlement to WTC is solely dependent on you working 30+ hrs. If, for example, you claim CTC then all that happens is you lose the 30hr element as of the day your hrs reduce, and you continue to receive the basic element of WTC. If it is a single WTC only claim or a joint WTC only claim and your partner works 29hrs pw or less then you would receive a 4 week run on of WTC before it ceases. There are exceptions to this though, so it depends on your circs.0

kris thanks for this - perhaps you could clarify my situation?
Sole parent normally claiming CTC and WTC (for the 27hrs). No other changes.
Run on or not?
Thanks,
