Leaving the UK for 18 months Paperless Online A/C Options?

Options
I think i am going to spend some time down under for up to 18 months, i know once i give up my UK permanent address, i will not be able to open a new savings account online while outside the UK. I currently have a Post Office instant access online account, but the guarantee bonus runs out in nine months, and unless they allow me to either roll it over or open a new one online i will need an account where i can transfer my funds to my linked current account, then into this new account i will open?

I need it as paperless as possible, i just do not want any correspondence sent out, as i do not live here, the mail is returned, the account gets locked? Unless they allow me to block all mail because i am going away, or change my address to an overseas address?

I have no family or any trusted individuals here in the UK, so i cannot give a forwarding address....

Anyone got good experiences of an online account paying at least 2.9% on monthly income, where you can open online, operate online, and zero paper correspondence. HiSave by ICICI was great, no paper, but now terrible interest rates.......

Thanks for any help....

Many years ago I was contemplating a permanent move abroad and HSBC were happy to send all bank statements and correspondence to my new address overseas. I don't know if this is still the case but you could ask ?

I know they have a "Go Green" option you can activate using their online banking and this stops all paper statements being sent. The downside is HSBC's interest rates aren't great at the moment.

I definitely wouldn't recommend RBS - but, as with ARM10's experience, I had RBS sending my statements to addresses overseas for nearly 10 years and they never seemed to notice I was abroad... I think you can turn off paper statements anyway, and they do have some halfway reasonable rates, 2.85% I think.

    There's probably better options though

Paperless statements don't solve the problem of all other correspondence from the bank though.

I can confirm HSBC did send all correspondence overseas for me, but as I said this was some years ago.
  • I was thinking maybe ING, Tesco or Sainsbury all online, all with a 12 month bonus, any thoughts?
  • Which online account, paperless, 12 months bonus, best option? Any thoughts.....
