Can I pay some money from my Halifax account to Nationwide?

Hi everyone,
I now have a Nationwide credit card and Im on online banking with them.
Now when I look online I cant find anywhere that I could click to make a extra payment(Im already doing the minimum payment to them via direct debit).
So what I was wondering is..... could I go to my Halifax online banking and make a payment to Nationwide to make an extra payment to them that way??
I just dont want to make the minimum payment to Nationwide each month,Id rather pay a bit more when I can afford it.

Is it possible to do it this way??

You need to pay from halifax to nationwide - so yes go into halifax online banking and set your nationwide account up as a bill payment and then you can pay them extra amounts as you want.

Do you have a NW bank account by any chance?
  • Thanks so much for your very quick replies.
I just really want to get this credit card cleared as quick as possible.I will ring Nationwide and ask if i can do this just to be sure but as Tixy says it looks like I can.

Ask if you can do what? - pay from your CC account or Halifax? For the former - no, you can't (I have a NW CC and have just checked the online banking services; no way to make a direct payment. As for the latter, yes, you can - just set up a single payment. You will need your 16 digit CC number (this is your ref. to ensure the money reaches your account and not a central holding account), NW's sort code and account number.

How many days do you have left to pay? Be mindful that your payment may take up to 4 working days to clear show up on your NW CC a/c.

    Hi Venus,
    Sorry for any confusion....
I still owe about £500 on my Nationwide card and at the moment the minumum payments are taken out every month via direct debit from my Halifax account.
I just want to keep paying extra money to my Nationwide card each month when Ive had overtime at work so I can pay the £500 quicker than just paying minimum payments each month.

Set up a bill payment online via you Halifax bank account. You will need Nationwide CC BACS details plus your 16 digit card number as reference.
