Fibreglass Hearth Rug
Bleg

We have just started enjoying our newly installed Morso multifuel stove and I already have some damage to the carpet immediately in front of the hearth. I have been searching the internet for weeks, trying to find somewhere in the UK where I can purchase a fibreglass rug to protect my carpet. I have only been able to locate them in the USA.
Can anyone help. Surely there must be somewhere in the UK that sells some. All alternative suggestions are most welcome.

It might be safer and more durable to expand the hearth?0

How far does your hearth extend in front of the stove? Building regs require 300mm IIRC.
We have exactly 300mm, and a Morso squirrel. Haven't had any damage so far - use it nearly every evening for 6 months a year.
Occasionally a spark spits out while the door is open (reloading logs) but only once has one managed to fire over the hearth.
When we had an open fire we used a small rug over the flooring in front of the hearth. Bearing in mind the fireguard was always in front of the fire if it was left unattended (even if only to go to the loo), we found that only minimal damage was caused to the rug from spitters, and they were never on the rug long enough to catch light. The rug got replaced every few years.0
