Hi , we want to go to northern Spain, southern France by train to do our bit rather than fly. Any tips as I can't find cheap tickets anywhere. We are travelling from the frozen North.

This is an excellent site for railway travel
http://www.seat61.com/
and the German railways site
https://www.bahn.de
is excellent for planning journeys all over Europe (including the UK). click on Internat Guests at the top to go to the English version.0 -
When it comes to buying tickets, check out fares offered by the French railway system (vyoages-sncf). I think that you might find good deals on the Spanish railway web site as well. And do experiement by giving different countries as your base, and getting fares in euros and dollars as well as sterling -- yuo may find this makes an enormous difference to the amount you have to pay.0
