OK, I feel a bit of a numpty asking this, but here goes...
I registered as self-employed a couple of years ago when I started buying to sell on eBay. Last year I left my full-time employment to eBay full time.
The eBaying's still ticking along nicely, but I've also (since November) been working as a virtual assistant, offering research, administration, secretarial, editorial and copywriting services. Do I need to notify anyone of the new venture or do I just leave it until the next tax return (when I know I'll need to put the details in as separate business)?
Caz (confused in Croydon!)

It's just me now, but for a while I was running my biz and taking on work from 2 other people. I didn't notify anyone, I just added my earnings from them onto my total and put that on the tax return.Bulletproof0

Yes I think that's right - if you're self employed that are not too worried how many sources of income you have (as long as you declare them!). Maybe it would be best to phone them to ask if only to put your mind at rest.0

I would check with hmrc too, we (hubby and me) are employed plus self employed in partnership. we will have to fill in ; employed forms, two each as we have both change jobs since april. separate sa forms , and a partnership form. it's going to take six months just to fill in all the forms!"There is a light that never goes out"0
