Sandisk clip MP3 Player

I have just treated myself to an MP3 Player (my first one). All the reviews say how easy it is to download Podcasts from the BBC straight to MP3 Players. Plug the cable in, open the player's icon in the 'My Computer' and pick up and drag and wait for the transfer to complete.

I have spent 4 hours at least trying to do this, and so far only succeeded in copying one across............and I don't know how I did this!!!

I also keep getting a Media Player coming up? I know it must be easy, but in basic language, what am I doing wrong.

Go to Settings, System Settings, USB Mode and check what that's set to. For what you are doing it needs to be set to MSC mode, so that it just looks like an external storage device.

MTP mode is intended so that you can use a media player to manage the device, doing things like syncing with a PC-based playlist.
  • Yes I have just done this. However, now the icon for the MP3 player isn't coming up when I go into My Computer' ready to drag the icon from the podcast across?
  • Ah - have waited about 4 mins and the MP3 player icon is finally coming up. I have now dragged the podcast icon across to drop it in the MP3 player icon and things are beginning to happen. It all seems to take so long? Is this usual when downloading to an MP3 player?

That depends how big the files are. But generally no, they should not take long for low bitrate audio, which should be fairly small.

A couple of things to try - change the USB lead, as it may be faulty. And check that your PC's USB device is operating normally - some will fallback to USB 1.1 speeds if the proper driver is not in place, and that will be slooow.
  • Mmmmmm - for some reason the podcasts still don't appear on my MP3 Player????

Put them in the folder called PODCASTS or MUSIC. If these folders don't exist, create them.
