Hi all after some advice,

I have just come back from the local shops and someone has hit my car and drove off. The parking area is away from the shops no one was around and there is no cctv I have checked with the police.
The rear passenger door has a dent the rear wing next to it is creased, the front door is scratched and the wing mirror taken off.

I am about to ring the insurance company however based on the above could it be anwrite off? Also if they repair it how long does it take and when doi apy the excess and to whom?
The car is an 07 astra 1.6sxi.
Thanks in advance.

Drive round the local area looking for the correct coloured car (I assume there is some of their paint on your car) with a corresponding dent on it.

Usual thing is that you just have to pay the excess and the insurance company will pay the rest. And your no-claims will vanish of course!

It varies but the average appears to be 2 years, your premiums will increase also for making a claim.
It's worth getting in quoted at a couple of garages and weighing up your insurance difference/costs of excess etc.

2 new doors rear wing and bumper and a mirror, i dont think it would be worth paying for it myself. thanks for the suggestion though.
  • Does anyone think it could be wrote off?

How much is the car worth, its quite new isnt it? Wouldnt thought theyd write it off?

I had same thing happen to me, returned to my 2 year old VW and first I thought it was just reflections on the car, then I realised some sod had hit it and driven away.

I got a devil dent bloke down first but he said the creasing over the wheel arch couldnt be done simply. I had a quote for £650 for doing the dent/crease/scratches and respraying. Decided for that price Id claim insurance. It went through smoothly and as I had protected NCB, no probs and my premium renewal two months later doesnt show any increase.

Only worth about £4k. It would need new doors and wings the only thing i have noticed is the rear wing goes right over the top of the roof and ends where the front starts.

If its just dented/scratched, they will panel beat and respray, not replace them.
