It was for a weekend receptionist at a care home, nothing particularly exciting or nothing age related like bar work or driving....

their insurance might only cover x and upwards

    you could be a pirate?
  • no there wasn't - it was just a small add in the local paper along the lines of 'weekend receptionist wanted for x care home, hours negotiable ring xxxx'....
  • btw...58 aint too old for pole dancing.... seeing as my dad went to ibiza on a stag do when he was 68 lol

Or a younger person. No lol. Its more than likely for insurance purposes. Was there a clue in the advert for the job or job details?

For insurance puroses for driving for example, rather than ask a candidate what his/her age was, it would be much wiser and sensible to ask if they are over 18 or 25 or whatever the insurance requirement was.

Asking for a candidates exact age is asking for trouble IMO.

Is there much money in either, will I have to work away from home, and will bells be involved? As I would much prefer a steady income, home comforts, and famous grouse.

if you're a pirate you'll have to drink rum. You'll be working from home but your home will be your new boat and it's commission only
  • thing is though id have thought they would say that in the advert

like you said 'small ad in the paper'. They pay per advert size so they have limited space / text.
