Getting annoyed already!!

Only been planning a week and I'm already getting frustrated at venues & suppliers!!
I called round all our shortlisted venues on Monday to make appointments to view and one of them I spoke to the wedding coordinator wasn't available so I left my name and number for them to call back. I had to chase them up yesterday because they still hadn't called back!
It might be me being petty but I think if they can't be bothered to call back to gain business from me, what are they going to be like if I booked with them and needed to call them for whatever reason?!
We're going to have a look round there tonight, but it's quite put me off booking there! Shall keep my mind open though, might be different once we've spoke in person.
Have also been emailing transport and photographers etc and not heard back from some of them. I know people go on holiday etc, but I'm turning into a bridezilla and feel like people to be at my beckon call LOL (only joking... slightly!)
Aahhhhh rant over thank you!

OMG! I can soooo relate to this! I had a stand up row with a wedding co-ordinator about not getting back to me, who said why did she have to chase me?! I said, erm, poss because I'm spending £9000 with you! Needless to say, we didnt use them! I totally get where you're coming from though. If they're not interested now, will they be on the day? I changed alot of our suppliers as a result. Manners cost nothing from them xMarried the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140

I kniw it can be irritating when they don't get back to you as soon as you would like but you also have to remember that they have other customers too. They may have had weddings etc this week and it causes a delay.
My make up lady isn't very quick at replying to emails but is lovely and always provides full replys when she can so I just try not to worry when it takes a few days for her to get back to me. I think it is more important to find someone who you like and you believe will provide a good service than simply someone who replys to emails/messages quickly.0 -
Hi
I found quite a few venues didn't get back to me so I chased them again but if they still didn't bother then they obviously don't want my custom. On the bother hand I am being bombarded with emails and post from one venue abs it's driving me mad so I'm going to call them and get my details removed

I had a wedding brochure from a hotel in the next city that I never even heard of never mind requested!
I do understand people are busy, maybe on holiday etc, but this is such a crucial phase of the planning and if they can't get back to me in 4 days then they are not that desperate for my business! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -

I hope you enjoy looking round the venues, I found they differ quite a lot on what they offer, how helpful and involved they will be etc.
One of the country manor places near me was useless you could tell straight away it was all about money and I would be just another wedding to them, so when we found our venue a family run business they were lovely. They bought us drinks when we chatted with them and said the staff would keep safe and presents or cards, they would make sure elderly people could get the buffet food first if we wanted and they would do the toastmaster role for us. It's little things like this that will make the day run smoothly and make me feel less panicked and worried

I do sympathise with your frustration and I think you're entirely within your rights not to choose somewhere if they don't get back to you at all - obviously they don't want your business....
BUT... as someone who has worked in a wedding venue office I can tell you that it can be extremely full-on at times - not only are you fielding calls and enquiries (and there are loads of these - 50/60 a day sometimes) but you're dealing with suppliers and existing bookings as well as chasing people for things (menu choices, deposits etc) and possibly setting up or co-ordinating the current event. And at this time of year things are ramping up for Christmas parties too... honestly, it's manic!
Try to go along with an open mind - my boss was lovely, but was constantly under pressure from every direction - including above. This meant that however hard she tried, she didn't always manage to return people's calls. And it's always possible that the answerphone message wasn't clear enough to get your number from! Silly I know, but quite possible.
Sorry - I'm just trying to let you see the other side so that you don't discount somewhere that might be otherwise be perfect for you.

OP - I had this from suppliers as well, just be patient and don't pressure yourselves to make decisions too soon. They are working on other weddings, at weekends especially, and some are up to their eyeballs and may take a few days to get back to you (especially the popular ones!!). Individual suppliers (e.g. photographers, cake makers, makeup artists etc) are under the most pressure as they don't have staff to field enquiries.
You have ages to decide and book it all if the wedding is in summer 2013! We haven't booked everything yet and ours is in July 2012!!! You seem very anxious to organise everything NOW which is understandable (I felt like that at first
) but it will all come together, I promise.
Having said that, a venue I emailed took 3 WEEKS to get back to me. I replied pointing out that we may well have booked it, but the delay meant that we had chosen somewhere else in the meantime. 3 weeks is beyond ridiculous!!!7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs

I'd suggest not getting too worked up about it...this kind of thing is going to happen *a lot* between now and the big day (and for the rest of your life, with the quality of service we get in this country)....0
