re-safe mode

Hi, Fortunately I have not had to use safe mode, but that leaves me vunerable should I have to, because I don,t know for sure How;
Can I do so as a test, just to be prepared for an emergency, and what,s the best/safest way of doing it.?
I know pressing f8 brings up the safe mode option, from then on I would be lost.Hope i,m not tempting fate here:::::vista 32 bit home premium, acer laptop

    When you have the screen with safe mode etc, select it by using the up arrow.

    It is fine to use whenever you want to

    Safe mode with networking will allow internet access but check your firewall works in this mode

    Yes, SafeMode with networking retains the drivers needed for youo wifi or lan module to connect to the internet if you need to download malwarebytes or similar (or gain remote assistance). Once you are finished in safe mode, just shutdown the computer normally. The next time you restart, it will load as normal

    You should always have a 'Recovery Disc' at hand.

    Follow these instructions in order to create one for Vista now:
    Download and save this Vista Recovery Disc Image to a working computer.
    Next, download and install ImgBurn(No need to install the Google Toolbar. Remove the relevant tick). Burn the Image to Disc. Use this guide(skip step 2b)

    Follow the instructions exactly and you won't go wrong.

    Once you have the disc, you can use it to access Startup Repair from the Vista Windows Recovery Environment, as well as other important options.

    Have you already created the Factory Restore discs for the ACER machine, via eRecovery?

    hi takethis, thanks, I have factory restore discs, which I purchased with pc. I did a factory restore only 6 weeks ago, using acer,e-recovery, no discs, and has been ok, except for a few niggles with my printer, as you may recall reading my posts about.
    Having never used safemode before, and my daughter not being able to boot up, I just wanted to familiarise myself wth the procedure;
    My pc at present is ok, but, want to be able to troubleshoot from safemode, if I need to, and to sort my daughters out;;
    Is the url you supplied,, which I have just taken a peep at,, for fixing issues with windows vista, after accessing the net in safe mode?

    Yes, you can use it to fix certain issues, especially if you cannot even get into Safe Mode.
