If you look on one of the appliances websites you will find plenty of island extraction hoods.

We have a vaulted ceiling and Siemens appliances. The hood came with a canopy extension, and the kitchen fitter just cut it to shape.

There are cheaper hoods than Siemens too from the likes of Baumatic. I'd ring the help lines of the companies.

thanks for that - what is yours hanging in from - with the ceiling being higher how have they got around that - dont suppose you have any piccies do you hun?? x

reread your post this morning now I have had some sleep and a break from the"EXTENSION" - if your cutter cut it to shape that means doh that you have had it taken all the way to the ceiling and then vented out I think - could you do me a mahhusive favour - could you take a piccie and show me - with it coming all the way down is it all you see when you walk in the room or does the beauty of the vaulted roof still shine through?

Thanks - am getting quite jittery about the whole thing

    Hi

These ceiling extractors start around £1,400.

With regard to conventional island extractors that hang down from the ceiling, this company Westins regularly makes extractors for me to specific sizes and specifications. These bespoke extractors generally start from around £1,300.

    ...

Ours is not an island extractor, so it doesn't match what you are looking for exactly. I'll try and get a pic loaded when I'm back later.

Your welcome, but sorry to cause you more trouble!

Don't forget though this kitchen will be there for 20 or so years, so just be sure that if you make a compromise now due to the budget that you will be comfortable with the decision for this length of time.
