    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
    edited 26 November 2011 at 8:25PM
I've got an official proper leather cover for my kindle (keyboard one) but be warned it fastened to the kindle with a plastic (then covered to make it look metal) hook which broke inside the kindle and then amazon had to replace the cover and kindle :rotfl:

An expensive mistake. And the replacement isn't any more sturdy. So just be careful if you have one of these to not put any pressure on the hook. I was holding my kindle by having a few fingers between kindle and back cover and I suspect thats whats broken it. But its a serious design flaw as when it breaks you can't replace it as you can't get the bit out.

I have been looking at a cover that has a magnetic catch to seal it. Would this interfere with the screen?
  • What "other" sources are there to buy kindle books? Ie e books then convert them with the software recommend above. Is amazon the only source for kindle books? Nowhere cheaper new releases seem expensive

Older books out of copyright are available free.

But newer books aren't, there are ways to join e-libraries and convert the books to the kindle format but they mean stripping the book of its DRM which is breaking copyright. There are also websites such as the one someone posted a link to but again that website is breaking copyright.

I obviously don't condone breaking copyright but am a member of 3 online elibraries and own a kindle.;)
