Yes Alison I believe it is. Bought mine online with help from customer services . £10 off over £75 spend plus my clubcard vouchers(not doubled up!) £60.50! Bought very good holder/cover and attachable light off amazon for £8.99. These can be expensive elsewhere!:T

At a guess I'd say it's one of these... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005SSBTFE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&m=A2PA6SVKIURG13

(Other colours too I think from this selller..well, black at least.)

I only found it AFTER I'd ordered & paid for another without light & too late to cancel order from Amazon.:(
  • Could anyone advise the most appropriate cover for this kindle?
Does the kindle have it's own backlight or is it advisable to get a cover Inc reading light?
Also the a/c plug is that a must have and if so best £
Also is there a downside not buying kindle direct from amazon?
    Thanks

I have the kindle with keybard, so can't comment on cover, but I would say that the case with built-in light has been a good purchase from my point of view - I can read while OH is asleep. The kindle itself does not have a backlight, it is a similar experience to reading a book. It comes with a charger with plug, so you do not need to buy a separate a/c plug. There is no downside to not buying from Amazon (unless you have a particular preference for customer service/after-sales service), you just register the kindle with Amazon regardless where you purchased it.
  • Thanks for the info.
Another q- can I search for kindle books on iPad/ pc, buy them then transfer and update kindle via the lead or wifi. Or do you always have to search and buy using kindle?

You can purchase/download books on ipad/pc - If you use the kindle app on ipad/pc to buy from Amazon, they transfer automatically onto your kindle via wifi. If you download books from a source other than kindle store, you need to send them to your kindle via usb (I use the free programme Calibre to do this, which converts to kindle format if necessary and is very easy to use)

I have a 3g keyboard kindle and I paid the extotionate price for an official cover with light £49.99 but I would buy the same cover again. I use the light most evenings and I like the case, with what I save on buying paperbacks the kindle and case have more than paid for themselves.

I agree - if you break it down into 'cost per use' it is peanuts!
