My chest freezer is stuck on fast freeze, the switch seems to have broken and cant be changed to normal freeze, everything comes out like a house brick, do you think this is ok for the food I suppose it will be using a lot more electricity though, and the frrezer is icing up quick too.

I doubt if over freezing will harm the food and it will still be safe to eat but you will be using a lot more electricity and the food will take a bit longer to defrost.
Can you unplug the freezer and dismantle the switch?
If it is a rotary switch, remove the plastic cover and use a pair of pliers to move the metal spline underneath.
If it is another type of switch, the fault might be obvious.
If you can’t fix it, a temporary solution would be to fit a timer to the socket and set it for one hour on and one hour off or something like that.0
