Hi folks we have just moved to Talktalk who have just unbundled our exchange, they stated that we can get 11.5-15 Mbps, sadly we are only getting 6.5-7, the router stats say 28/14 attenuation down/up and snr 14.5/11.8 according to kitz we should ;) get much more anyone else got any views please??

PS at least it is the same as we had with our old ISP with out adsl2+

I'm also on Talktalk LLU, my downstream attenuation is 29db and i get around 17 meg...so ignore Talktalk's speed predictions, ultimately its your downstream line attenuation which determines how fast your modem syncs.

First of all get your downstream noise margin changed; TT's default is 12db. Register on the TT forums and ask to be put on "24FSNR6" profile. This will decrease your downstream SNR to 6db and also switch off interleaving (ie put on fastpath) which is not really necessary on short lines such as yours. Once the SNR has been changed to 6db, your modem should now sync at least 15 meg. If it doesn't, try plugging your modem into the master socket (if not already plugged) and/or change the filters, modem etc. If still no luck, post your line stats in the same thread on the TT forums and the TT OCE will do their best to help you.

^^ good advice from froggie there :) A couple of things to add to it,

    1. ask TT to disable the Dynamic Line Management on your line. I know you're on LLU, but TT have their own version operating on their LLU service, which on a line as short as yours really isn't needed. Heck, I'm on a 50dB line and don't need it, and it played havoc with me tweaking my snrm until I got them to turn it off ;)

    2. You may still be within the 10-day training period if it's just gone live on the LLU, so you may have to wait until this period is over before TT will make any changes to line profile.

The other thing you need to do is make sure your internal wiring is up to scratch, as well as all your microfilters are in good condition, See the links for how to go about this:-

Other half posted there days ago, and hadn't had a reply it seems your forum is slow to respond, but thanks for the offer

Thanks Gunny and Froggie for the input, the training period is well over, seems that their website is a little overwhelmed unlike this one which is followed by genuine unpaid kind people.
