Hours been cut!! Need advice on tax credits

I currently work 30 hours a week and claim working tax credit.
(single person living alone on low income).
Today i was told they will be cutting my hours to 27 a week, which means i will lose my tax credits aswell.
If i took on a cleaning jod for a couple of friends and declared it (self employed maybe??)
would i still be able to claim my tax credits?
Or as anyone any other ideas as i am not well up on these things
I have worked at my current job for 12 years and love it, so dont want to leave.
Thanks.

Yes, as long as its all recorded and accounted for. With this in mind you do know that being self employed requires you to not only pay tax but national insurance contributions as well?
And if they decrease in tax credits payments is less than the amount you will pay to HMRC you have to think is it worth it? You don't want to be further out of pocket and washing your mates boxers lol.
A better route would be to get another employed job, as hard as that is these days. The harder one works the luckier one gets!0
