Okay, I'll bite. Prices did skyrocker in 2000. They "built" the sales room and showhomes by converting a garage and by using houses they were going to sell later. The sales staff were making them money hand over fist by telling you the truth. What if the Scouselander is being told the truth now and we just don't realise it. I suspect your wife intervened because she thought you were being a bit stupid. Turns out she was right. ;)

As I typed it I thought that;)

However, can you imagine a salesperson in a site sales office saying anything else other than 'buy now not later'. Maybe she really was a house price guru and has been telling people recently to come back next year when prices have bottomed out.
  • In our case it was obvious the salesperson wanted us to buy now rather than later (to be expected I suppose) but for various reasons, which we explained, a move before 2013 isn't really practical for us. I'm no salesman but I would have thought it would be better to cultivate our interest so when next year comes around she'd have some sales leads. Instead the sales rep just annoyed us and now the missus is leaning towards getting an older house instead.
