Just carry on overpaying really and don't drop your regular payment.
It does seem when you start out that you are not really making a dent in it but after a while it really does seem to start coming down quite considerably but it does take time and it can be disheartening.
Good luck to you in your effort to pay your mortgage. I would love it if everyone in this forum could say "I am Spartacus"."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Totally agree - make sure your overpayments are done automatically by standing order. That way there's no skipping overpayments.MFi3T2 #98 - Mortgage Free 15/12/20110

Well I do want to spend. I have just replaced all the front door metalwork with brand new stuff.
I want new carpets and tiling in the house as well, but that can wait until Winter is over.
I do not see much point in saving too much given how pitiful rates are."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Excellent point. My regular overpayments were by SO and I got into the habit of treating them as regular outgoings rather than one-offs."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
