Advice from Eon Rep please?

Hi,

I've got a query about how Eon are working out the higher and lower rates, as I haven't a clue what they're doing.

After the kwhs have been worked out, both the gas and electricity are priced up in the same way - divide 2680 by 365 days, then multiply the answer by the number of days the bill is for, and it gives the amount of kwhs to be priced at the higher rate.

Right, we switched to Eon for gas and they wanted us to pay for the 1st month, for some reason, as we pay quarterly, (and I always read the meters).

So we got the bill, which was over 28 days, and was 222kwhs. I worked it out as above, and got it to exactly what they did - 206kwhs at the higher rate, and 16kwhs at the second.

But, here's where the confusion starts.
The electricity bill is due soon so I thought I would work it out. But when I was looking at 2 past bills, the higher and lower rates seem all wrong.

1,113kwhs, over 84 days. As worked out as above, the first units (higher rate) should be 617kwhs, and lower rate 496kwhs.
But, they worked it out as the higher rate at 210kwhs, and lower at 903kwhs??

The other bill was 787kwhs, over 71 days. If worked out as above - higher rate 521kwhs, and lower 266, but they worked it out as higher 175kwhs, and lower 612kwhs.

Am I missing something here? Or are we getting under charged?

Thanks,
Candy.

Yep, just worked bills out and they tally now. I didn't know the electricity was 900 at higher rate. It doesn't say that on any of my documents. Thanks alot.

    Yes...?
It's just about ways to contact them and how to pay.
There's nowhere on either the gas or electric bills which give those figures.

"Tracking Your Energy Usage" bottom of middle column. And under "Key Facts" further down the bill.

No, there's nothing about what you've mentioned anywhere on my bill, and the middle column is just about how to make a complaint.

We pay cash quarterly, so bill is sparce of any detail. If you have a different tariff or pay by direct debit your bills must be different then.

    Hi Candy

I’m sorry for the confusion here, I’m glad allisonw got in there quick to explain the threshold for electricity isn’t the same as gas.

In terms of the bills, how long have you been with us now? Is this your third electricity bill that’s due?

I suspect the first bill you had was only for a month’s use because you joined us mid-quarter. We base your billing schedules on when meter readers are in your area, rather than the time you’ve been with us.

The info that molerat was referring to doesn’t appear on every bill and we won’t be able to give you your Key Facts until you’ve been with us for a year.

Next time you’re on the website have a look at our online bill demo, you can find a link on the left hand side of the homepage under ‘I have a question about my bill’.

Hope this helps a little Candy, give us a shout if need any more info.

    Amanda :)
