How Do I Change My Audio Connections For My Newly Bought Mp3 Player For My Car
Hi can anyone help me?? i have just bought a cd/mp3/usb player for my car, i got it from Aldi and it is made by tevion, model 4187. I took my original one out of my renault clio, and noticed that the connections were totally different to the tevion one, my clio is 1998/1999 and i know the radio was made in portugal ( for renault) but not sure of exact manufacturer?
I want to install it myself ,but dont know the first place to look for the right gear, i looked briefly a t maplins, but you really need to know what you are looking for in the first place!!
I would appreciate as much advice and help as possible! or if anyone knows of a reliable installer in the bolton area then that would also be good
Thanks in anticipation
Bob

Well, all cars made after about 1990 or something, should be fitted with ISO connectors for the radio.
My g/f has a clio, and she put a new mp3 cd player in, and it plugged straight in. What does it say in the instruction manual? You should have 2 rectangular plugs from the radio, which plug into a square plug with 2 rectangular slots in the clio. The clio will have an extra lead, due to the extra display up the top and steering wheel controls, but ignore them.0 -
This is a common requirement. The previous poster is correct in that a newish car-radio should have what is known as ISO connections. You should find that any car audio store (or Halfords) sell kits to bridge the wiring from the car manufacturers connectors, to the ISO connectors on the back of the radio.
The main brand for these things is Autoleads. If you can't find a local supplier try https://www.incarexpress.co.uk. (No affiliation - one of the people there gives out good advice on the ICE newsgroup, so they seem like good people).
Each group of car manufacturers use their own set of connectors, and they differ by year and model, so look carefully.
They cost £10 or so. Don't try butchering the Renault loom and crimpng loose bits of wire on, whatever you do.0 -
my next door neighbor has a tevion 4187 hu refurb with no wires at all:rolleyes:
does anyone know how he could go about connecting it to his toyota corolla?0 -

Unless you're OK with electronics, it's going to need to go to a car audio specialist to get installed. Good news is that this should only cost around £30 as it's not that complicated if you know what you're doing.0 -
if you cant find the adapter to do it with no chopping about, either take the unit back for a refund and spend the £30 (quouted) fitting price on a better one from halfords or argos, that will fit
Both halfords are always doing really good halfprice stereo deals.

Another alternative is to find some boy racers (whizz boys, rude boys) that look like they know what they are doing and offer them a free mc donalds if they can do it!
Maybe join your local online "cruise" site and post the advert on there, u cn tel bi der spelin, if dey wood b n e gud0 -
Simply find an adaptor from Renault connectors to ISO and get one off fleabay or similar.
I paid £2 for a similar Nissan adaptor for a friend. They pluged in both ends and voila0 -

And then stand back as your car goes up in flames. Saw one of these so called experts once scithing through the wiring harness with a set of cutters. Was cutting them all at the same time, merrily shorting out the live and neutral with reckless abandon and wondered why the new unit didn't work.0
