Feeding a diabetic dog

Hi
I'm new on the forum, as far as dogs are concerned, and I'm doing research into which food and treats owners of diabetic dogs recommend for them.
In respect to you and to full disclosure the research is for an article I'm writing for my site. I have customers asking for specific treats for diabetic dogs and while I have an idea i.e. low fat, high fibre and complex carbs I'd rather hear from dog owners who deal with this every day. What works for your dog?
I'm also interested in treats you can find in the home without specifically buying in treats such as broccoli, carrots(?), green beans etc.
Any feedback, ideas, recipes and stories are appreciated and more than welcome.
Thank you
Kate0
